LCR Dice Game: Set the Stakes as You Please

Many have caught on to the LCR dice game craze. If you haven’t, you’ll definitely want to add this to your game night lineup. It is a favorite in dice games and can be played with chips (just for fun) or with coins or dollars (for even higher stakes).

The game is simple. It consists of three dice, each marked with 3 sides having one dot and the other three sides with an L, a C, and an R, indicating left, center and right. To begin, each player sets three chips (or quarters or dollars) in front of them. Play proceeds clockwise and each player rolls the same number of dice as chips in front of them. They move their chips as indicated—to the left or right or to the center pot. Rolling a dot means you retain a chip. And don’t worry if you run out of chips—you can still get one from the players on either side of you.

The cycle continues until there is just one player with one chip. That player must roll a dot. If they roll a left or a right, that player must roll a dot to take the pot.

Here is where things can get interesting. If this last player rolls a C and there are no more chips on the table everyone antes again and the pot doubles. It can triple or even quadruple, making for much excitement, whether you’re playing for pretzels or five dollar bills.

Okay, so you’re probably sold on getting the LCR dice game. But here is another fun thing you can do with your new dice game. For the holidays or any kind of family get together, you can do an LCR variation on a “rob your neighbor” or “white elephant” gift exchange. There are a number of ways to play and a quick search online can give you some great ideas.

Add LCR to your selection of dice games and you’re in for tons more fun!
